Crossroads is the original irish pub in Boston and the Back Bay. Crossroads is located on Beacon Street, which was know as the "Rope Walk" During the 1700-1800's, Boston was a thriving seaport and shipbuilding city. The shipbuilders used Beacon Street to make rope by stretching the sections of hemp along the walk and then braiding it. Immediately following Prohibition, the Kennedy family operated a bar know as "Kennedy's" at this present location. In the mid 1950's the bar was taken over bythe Goodfellow family whe changed the name to the Esplanard Cafe" and then to "The Zebra Lounge", where large booths with zebra strips were the trademark. In the early 1960's, the DeCandio family took over and renamed it "CROSSROADS" which became renowned for its pizza.
Crossroads (also occasionally known as Brodigan's) is a favorite Irish pub and restaurant with locals. The place exudes an authentic Emerald Isle feel, thanks to a casual, laid-back atmosphere and large TV screens that broadcast the latest soccer games. The pub boasts two floors, and the larger upstairs area features dartboards, should you care to make a friendly wager on your skills. Home cooked food, a warm welcome and a good pint what more could you ask for.
